Requirements for print files

1. CMYK-PDF compliant with the PDF/X-1a:2001, PDF/X-3a:2002 or PDF/X-4a:2008 standard.
2. Objects extending to the edge of the page have a bleed of at least 3 mm (5 mm for brochures, books, etc.), the clean format of the print is located in the middle of the PDF page, without crop marks.
3. Design elements extending to the print format must continue 5 mm beyond the cut edge to prevent white edges from appearing on the finished print due to inaccuracies in paper dimensions and shifts resulting from post-processing machines. The distance between text or other important details and the cut edges of the print must be at least 5 mm. NB! In case of perfect bindings, it should be avoided that the content is too close to the spine of the binding.
To this end, an additional 5 mm should be considered in the design for the inner margins, which ensures better readability of the book.
4. The resolution of images when scanning must be 300 dpi to obtain a normal print result. (1:1)
5. All image files must be converted (RGB → CMYK;RGB → GRAY; CMYK → GRAY),
maximum halftone dot (color coverage)300%.
6. All color illustrations must be in CMYK (not RGB
or Lab) format before being placed in the layout. All black and white objects must not contain CMYK or RGB colors, but must be black K-100.
7. In the case of black text, the color code must always be checked before saving, so that the black color code is C-0, M-0, Y-0, K-100, not C-100, M-100, Y-100, K-100.
In the case of four-color black, the letters will have colored and ugly edges in the print.
8. Avoid using white (negative) fonts smaller than 8 points in color objects.
9. The recommended size for italic fonts and fonts with fine line elements is at least 9 points.
10. Do not use the Hairline attribute and lines finer than 0.25 points.
11. All pages of one publication must be in the final print format (1:1 scale), pages in the correct sequence with blank pages and in one file (except for, for example, a book cover)
12. NB: the thickness of the spine of the cover design is affected by the thickness of the paper. (The spine thickness in the drawing is 6 mm).
It is advisable to avoid finishing the color surfaces on the spine of the cover, as a few millimeters of material shift during post-processing also affects the design and the result may be worse than expected.

NB!!! A so-called design made in Word or Excel is not a print original - it can only be used as an approximate example of how the customer wants to see the arrangement of objects in the print. Low-resolution image material taken from the Internet is usually not usable in print.
